A system that reconstructs an event

The value of a surveillance system comes down to one question: can you see today what happened two weeks ago at a specific point? If the answer is uncertain, the system is not doing its job.

So a project starts with a coverage map: which zones are critical, where a general view is enough, and where face or licence plate recognition is required. That determines camera type, lens, resolution and mounting height.

Next comes recording and retention: how many days of archive are needed, at what frame rate and on which cameras. This directly drives storage capacity and network load, which we calculate up front.

Questions

What people ask us most often

How many days of archive do we need?
It depends on the type of site and internal policy. Offices are often well served by 14–30 days; retail and industrial sites usually need more. Retention drives storage capacity directly, so it is calculated at design stage.
Can existing cameras be kept?
If they are IP cameras supporting ONVIF, they can usually be brought into the new system. For analogue cameras we assess whether they still meet the requirement — partial replacement is often the more effective route.
How is remote access secured?
We never leave a recorder exposed directly to the internet. Access runs over VPN or the manufacturer’s secured service, with individual accounts and, where supported, two-factor authentication.
What about personal data?
We advise on appropriate placement (for example excluding private spaces), recommend signage and configure an access log. Ultimate legal responsibility for compliance rests with the site owner.
