Open standards, compatible platforms
We select technology on three criteria: does it fit the task, does it have long-term support, and can it be integrated with other systems.
- Vendor-independent choices
- Open protocols preferred
- Long-term support
How we choose technology
Our approach is technology neutrality: we are under no obligation to propose a particular brand. That lets us fit the solution to the real requirement of the site rather than the other way round.
We give preference to systems built on open standards — ONVIF in video, OSDP in access control, KNX and Matter in automation. That reduces the risk of finding yourself dependent on a single supplier when the system needs to grow.
Listed below are technologies, protocols and platforms we work with or ensure compatibility with. Vendor names are given only to describe the ecosystem and do not indicate official partnership, distribution or authorisation.
How the systems fit together
A building’s technology stack divides into four layers. The bottom one is the physical foundation, the top one is unified control. Each layer rests on the one below it: weak cabling undermines even the smartest scenario.

- Monitoring
- Reporting
- Systems layer
- Video
- Access
- Climate
- Lighting
- Audio visual
- Network layer

- DSP audio processing
- Ceiling microphone arrays
- Wireless presentation
- Digital signage management
Selection criteria
Every technology decision answers these four questions:
Does it fit the task
Functionality must cover the actual need — no less, and no surplus you pay for without using.
What is the support outlook
The platform needs updates, available components and a sensible lifecycle.
How integrable is it
Open protocol support determines whether the system can be connected to anything else.
What does it cost to run
We count not just purchase price but licences, servicing and the cost of expansion.
Standards and practice
Our design work follows established industry approaches:
Infrastructure
- Structured cabling planning
- A single line labelling scheme
- Rack organisation and airflow
- Power calculation and redundancy
Network
- Segmentation by system
- Access policies and authentication
- Configuration backups
- Monitoring and alerting
Security
- Mandatory replacement of factory passwords
- Individual accounts and event logging
- Remote access over secured channels only
- A software update policy
What people ask us most often
Are you an official partner of a particular brand?
Can you integrate with an existing system?
Why do you favour open standards?
