Frequently asked questions
Answers worth having before the project starts
We have collected the questions we are asked most often before work begins. If yours is not here, get in touch.
01
Getting started
How does working with you begin?
The first step is a consultation, by phone or in person. We ask about the site and the brief and give an initial orientation. Then we survey the site and prepare a specification.
Is the initial consultation chargeable?
The initial consultation and site survey are free. Cost arises when it comes to detailed design or works — and that is agreed in advance.
Do you work on small sites?
Yes. We work on large sites as well as apartments, small offices and individual systems. The approach is the same — only the scale changes.
02
Cost and timelines
How is the price made up?
The price comprises equipment, installation works, configuration and design. Each line item appears separately in the specification, which makes comparison and discussion of alternatives straightforward.
Can the work be split into stages?
Yes, and often that is the most sensible route. We start with the base — cabling and network — and add systems over time, with the architecture designed for expansion from the outset.
What affects the timeline?
The main factors are site readiness, equipment lead times and coordination with other contractors. All of this is fixed in the programme at design stage.
03
Technical questions
Can you work with an existing system?
Yes. We begin with an audit: what is installed, what condition it is in and what can be retained. Partial modernisation is often more effective than full replacement.
Who owns access to the system after handover?
All credentials, passwords and configurations are handed to you. Our principle is that a client should never be technically locked in to a supplier.
What happens during the warranty period?
Under warranty we correct installation and configuration defects. Equipment warranty follows the manufacturer’s terms — we manage that process on your behalf.
04
Support
What does support after handover cover?
Several formats are available: one-off call-outs, periodic preventive maintenance, or full managed service with monitoring and agreed response times.
Do we need an in-house IT specialist?
For small and mid-sized organisations managed services often replace the internal resource entirely. In larger organisations we work alongside the in-house team with responsibility for specific systems.
